Is a VIP Design Day Right for You?

VIP Design Day.jpg

When you get excited about a new project, what gives you more satisfaction—taking your time over several weeks to think it through and work on it in small increments until it is finished? Or starting it early and finishing before sunset? If you answered the latter, then a VIP Design Day may be just what you are looking for.

VIP Design Day clients are organized, punctual, know what they want, and would prefer it be done quickly.

Over the years, I’ve seen some of my favorite projects drag on for weeks, sometimes months. Unsurprisingly, my interest (and the client’s) plummets when weeks go by without any progress. Design Day keeps everyone’s energy high and the sense of accomplishment is unbelievable!

Design Projects that Can be Done in a Day

Brand Refresh

Are you in love with your logo and strategy, but less excited about your color, type, and design guidelines? We could easily tackle that in a day—giving you a brand refresh that you could quickly apply to your website and social media. If you need a complete rebrand, please consider scheduling a call with me to discuss brand strategy and design, which is a longer and more in-depth process not suited for a VIP Design Day.

Brand Collateral

Do your marketing materials desperately need updating, or do you have a logo and brand book but no marketing materials? If you book me by the day, we can quickly get through your design punchlist. Brochures, social media templates, presentations, advertising, or flyers are all good candidates. We could potentially get through 1–3 small projects over the course of a day, giving you an updated, unified look for your marketing materials.

I cannot recommend Jenni enough for her expert design skills. She has worked on a few projects for the Divinity School, so understands our aesthetic and commitments. Our most recent project was one she worked on during a VIP Design Day. . . She took the “look” of a related prior project and built it into the new project. The end result is a very attractive and professional brochure for prospective students. This is a great option for a smaller project and I commend it to the rest of you who need some solid work done!

Design in a Day Timeline

Pre-work Prep

Organization and preparation are key components for a successful VIP Design Day. We start with a phone call/Zoom assessment to make sure we agree on the scope of work and go over expectations for both of us. After the contract is signed and the deposit is made, we schedule your dedicated Design Day. It is up to you to make sure you can provide me with all content (design brief, images, text, brand guidelines, etc) that will be needed at least a week ahead of time so that I can review it. We will touch base 4–5 days beforehand to go over the design brief and clear up any questions.

Design Intensive

All I ask of you during our VIP day is that you prioritize communication between the two of us so that we are not delayed by feedback. I want to devote my time to designing for you, and only you! If prep was done well, your copy should be in tip-top shape, and all images pre-approved and high resolution. We don’t want to waste our time needling copy and commas, except where the design requires it. If the design brief is clear and detailed, then we won’t need many design refinements either, as it should be a matter of solving the problem visually in a way that fits your brand.

Quality Assurance

If all goes well, you should have final files in hand by the end of the day. If you catch something after the fact or want to make a minor adjustment, you are free to take advantage of one additional round of refinements up to a week later. Sometimes we don’t see clearly till we see it with fresh eyes!

Common Questions

What If We Need More Time?

I’m pretty confident in what can and can’t be done over the course of a day, but I need to point out you are booking my undivided time and 20+ years of design experience, not a specific deliverable. In some cases, we may need to book an additional half day to finish what we started. If your scope is beyond the needs of a single day, we can book multiple days. Every VIP Design Day is tailored to your specific needs and goals in order to get the best results possible.

What If I Need to Reschedule?

Life happens! I ask for a week’s notice and then you are free to reschedule once within the next 60 days.

What is the Investment?

One day is $1497 (6 hours devoted just to you!). Larger projects which need two days are $2497. You can book your VIP day with a 50% deposit. The balance is due on your scheduled day.
